He has been practicing in British Columbia since 2003 as an environmental consultant specializing in environmental planning, permitting, compliance monitoring, habitat design and long term effectiveness monitoring. These including obtaining permits to construct the port facility in Stewart BC for Stewart World Port, construction of the Westview Marina Project in Powell River, dredging of the Fraser River navigation channels in Ladner and Steveston, blasting to construct the marina at Brigade Bay on Gambier Island in Howe Sound, installation of sewer lines to support the town of Cedar, construction of the Sea and Sky development in Squamish, and more. Mr. Appleton is Department Head of Biological Services at Keystone Environmental Ltd., a Canadian environmental consulting company with offices in Victoria and Burnaby British Columbia and Mississauga Ontario. He manages a team of approximately 30 registered professional biologists, technologists and biologists in training. The biology team is further supported by a team of over 60 professional engineers, geologists, engineers in training, drafting and GIS technologists from the engineering and contaminated sites departments at Keystone Environmental. His team is actively providing environmental consulting services for a number of small, medium and large scale projects including the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project, Woodfibre LNG Project, and the BC Ferries Swartz Bay Berth 5 Expansion Project.
